Good Shepherd Economic Development (GSED), began in 2007 out of concern for the economic state of the marginalized and lowest of the low in the Indian social hierarchy. Illiteracy, lack of dignity, diffidence and poverty were their lot. Not too many people seemed to care for them. Many have given them handouts and well-meaning programs have been run, but perfunctorily. What was lacking was an engagement with these people to see them through their darkest times until the day comes for their empowerment, transformation and liberation.
GSED comes from a group of concerned individuals who have been working in villages and with the poor since 1963. We have a proud history of achievement, involvement and commitment. We are a recognized entity in the Indian landscape and have generated significant good will over this almost half a century of loving and valuing people.
Good Shepherd Economic Development aims at a holistic socio-economic and spiritual empowerment of local target communities by investing in a range of ventures so that such local communities gradually grow to participate in these ventures on self-sustaining basis. Each such venture forms a component of the larger vision, Freedom at 25 Million of Good Shepherd/OM India.
